Dock seals are foam pads that return to the trailer and rest upon arrival at the dock. Dock seals provide a tight seal around the three sides of the trailer, but can wear off quickly on a dock that gets a lot of use. Dock seals also take up less space than shelters but are not versatile to fit a wide variety of trailers. Dock seals may also prohibit the use of forklifts for Lorries.

Dock seals have historically provided a tight seal, but only 3 sides of the trailer. Dock shelters are incredibly useful in improving the effectiveness of any loading dock.
