Dock Shelter
Difference between Dock Shelter and Dock Seal
Significant
problems can be caused by the Small gaps around Lorries parked on your loading.
While they may not seem like much, these locations can allow heat, cold, dirt,
rain, snow, insects and debris into your loading dock and commercial space.
This
is where dock shelter
and dock seals can save you money and effort by keeping your dock untouched,
clean and safe.
Benefits of both
dock seal and shelter
Both
dock shelters and seals can save you hundreds of dollars a year by maintaining
your insulation and taking pressure off your heating and cooling system. Both
door shelters also provide the benefit of preventing the use of rain and snow
which can cause water damage to your property and products. They help keep out
dust, dirt, and debris to keep your workplace clean. They also help prevent
access to insects and other pests that can cause infestation.
Both
dock shelters and seals can look similar and meet similar goals, but they are
each designed to meet specific objectives.
Dock shelter
Dock
shelters form a seal around a truck or trailer with fabric curtains covered
with fiber glass. Dock shelters are versatile, offer a range of different
trailer sizes and are ideal for large docks. Dock shelters are more durable and
allow unhindered access to loads for higher efficiency.
Dock seal
Dock
seals are foam pads that return to the trailer and rest upon arrival at the
dock. Dock seals provide a tight seal around the three sides of the trailer,
but can wear off quickly on a dock that gets a lot of use. Dock seals also take
up less space than shelters but are not versatile to fit a wide variety of
trailers. Dock seals may also prohibit the use of forklifts for Lorries.
Dock shelter are generally
more expensive than dock seals, but also provide a high degree of seal
performance and durability. Dock seals provide a more economical solution, but
wear out more quickly with higher usage. Dock shelters provide a seal around
the entire circumference of the trailer and newer models provide a seal in the
form of a dock seal. Dock seals have historically provided a tight seal, but
only 3 sides of the trailer. Dock shelters are incredibly useful in improving
the effectiveness of any loading dock. If you have the facility or the ships
load several times a day, you will already be quite familiar with how much the
temperature can fluctuate while the door is open and how difficult it can be to
stop. There is an easy way to prevent temperature fluctuations, and the answer
is to load the dock shelter.
