Retractable Dock Shelter
Dock seals & shelters play a big role in maintaining saving energy as well as efficiency in warehouses.
The
unpredictability of the British weather means that every day, opening a door is
a journey into the unknown. For a busy warehouse, the challenges of maintaining
a given ambient temperature can be severe, with heat loss - or indeed heat
penetration - an important issue. From the thermal efficiency point of view,
each time the loading bay doors are opened, it is potentially costing you money
in terms of heating or cooling the warehouse environment. Wind, rain and snow
that intrude into the workplace can also compromise production, for that safety
and hygiene is must.
It
is no surprise that dock shelters have become a popular choice as an interface
between the warehouse and the lorry. Rugged and sturdy, they create an
effective seal against the lorry during loading and unloading and reduce heat /
cold losses from thermally regulated premises or vehicles. They also protect
goods and operators from extremes of weather.
By
design heavy duty and highly cost effective when considered against energy
savings they are able to maintain warehouse ambient temperature, a low
maintenance solution to seal the gap between the dock shelter loading bay and
the vehicle body Provide. Curtains protect the goods from the weather and help
maintain the temperature of the warehouse. Easy to install, they can be easily
integrated with traffic light controls, interior dock lights and other
automated warehouse systems.
While
looking at a dock shelter for a certain application, there are three most
important options: retractable, rigid, and Inflatable. The standard, rigid dock
shelter is designed to allow unhindered access to the rear of the vehicle for
easy loading or unloading. They provide good protection from employing two
vertical side curtains, external elements, and a horizontal head curtain to facilitate
an effective seal against the truck. The same benefits are provided by retractable dock shelter,
but they provide the added benefit of turning back when hit by a poorly parked
vehicle. This not only reduces the possibility of impact damage but also
ensures that an effective seal is installed. Once the vehicle exits the bay the
shelter will return to its original position.
These
retractable dock shelter
are manufactured with three frame construction options: galvanized steel box
section with plasticisol color coated sheeting, and raked roof; Treated wood
casing in black PVC / polyester heavy duty fabric, with sloping roof from back
to front; Or insulated side and roof panels finished with steel color-coated
white plasticisheet sheets, sliding roof rear-to-front.
The
second option for dock shelters is the inflatable model. Here, once the vehicle
is docked in the shelter, the side and head curtains are inflated to provide a
weather-tight, energy-efficient seal against the vehicle.
Inflatable
dock seals provide an excellent solution for working warehouses with a wide
range of vehicle heights. Hygiene rules are followed, and the internal
retraction system for the side airbags gives a smart and clean look. Attached
to the head seal, the counter-balance weight return system ensures it is stored
separately when deflated.
